Susan Stewart
Associate Director of Public Relations
In June 2006, Susan Stewart began directing public relations activities for the University of Florida. Her responsibilities include development and dissemination of key messages, feature news stories and other communication, to promote the mission, values and vision of the university.
Her background spans more than 20 years in the areas of public relations, communications and education. In her recent five-year tenure at AAA Ohio Auto Club, she led public relations campaigns and tripled the organization's media exposure by serving as spokesperson for more than 1,300 statewide and national television, newspaper and radio interviews, including Better Homes & Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, National Public Radio, The New York Times and USA Today. She has provided media training to company executives and been a travel writer for Home & Away magazine and The Columbus Dispatch, covering topics such as cruises, family and single-traveler vacations, automotive safety, and cultural/educational venues. She also spent several years implementing marketing and public relations communications for a multi-state region of Sprint, supporting one of the company's most successful territories. In addition to her business experience, she was a public school teacher (English and reading) in Maryland and Florida.
Stewart holds a master's degree in English from Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree in education from Marshall University.
