Ron WayneRon Wayne joined the office of News and Public Affairs as News Desk Editor in January 2005. A 1978 Penn State graduate with a bachelor's degree in journalism, Wayne worked in a variety of editorial positions at newspapers in Pennsylvania before moving to Georgia to become managing editor of The Griffin Daily News, near Atlanta.

He later worked as an assistant metro editor at The Macon Telegraph and editor of The Valdosta Daily Times. In 2004, Georgia Trend magazine called Wayne one of the most influential people in the state's media. He won five awards in statewide contests in Georgia, including three Freedom Of Information awards from the Associated Press, and individual awards for column and editorial writing from the Georgia Press Association.
