Marion S. Hoffmann
Associate Vice President, Government Relations
Marion S. Hoffmann was named Director of Government Relations for the University of Florida (UF) in November 2000. In August 2004, she was promoted to Associate Vice President and later served as the interim Vice President for Government Relations before the new UF office of University Relations was created. In her role with UF, she is responsible for coordinating the state lobbying team and for helping lead the university's Congressional Appropriation requests.
Prior to her work with UF, Marion was Director of Government and Community Relations for Burger King Corporation, based in Miami. There she handled federal, state and local lobbying issues for the company and served as the legislative liaison for the network of Burger King franchisees on all governmental issues. She also oversaw the company's charitable giving program and helped organize the company's volunteer outreach and its United Way campaign.
Marion also has served as Executive Director for Cities In Schools of Miami, a non-profit dropout prevention program. Additionally, her varied background includes positions as Director of Government Relations for the Florida Cable Television Association, Cabinet Aide for Education and Clemency to Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner Tom Gallagher and Staff Assistant for the Florida House of Representative's House Minority Office.
Marion grew up in Gainesville, Fla., attended Tulane University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin, she did an internship with Governor Mark White's Office of Economic Development. She is active in many volunteer initiatives, including Leadership Florida and serves on the Development Committee for Holy Comforter Episcopal School in Tallahassee. She is married to J. Bruce Hoffmann, Esq. and they one son, Travis.
