Tropical Research and Education Center, Homestead:
This facility is one of the Research and Education Centers, strategically located close to a major commodity production region. The RECs enable IFAS researchers to quickly respond to the agricultural and natural resource needs in Florida.
UF/SHANDS Facilities:

    • A partnership with school districts to offer free advanced degrees in school leadership to teachers, to hire and train master-teachers as on-site "professors in residence" and to mobilize community and business for child wellness an school improvement programs.

    • A partnership with 200 elementary schools in Miami-Dade County to boost school readiness in children who are otherwise unprepared to succeed in school.
    • Impact: $10 million grant to work with 200+ elementary schools.
UF Alliance Program, Miami:
Launched in 2000, the mission of the UF Alliance program is to enhance college access for historically underrepresented urban youth by providing outreach and awareness, engaging parents in the educational process, offering professional leadership and more. New World School of the Arts
The University of Florida is a partner supporting Florida's premier center of excellence in the visual and performing arts. As a conservatory, NWSA develops talented students in the areas of dance, music, theater and visual arts from the ninth grade in high school through a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor in Music college degree.
The NWSA high school was founded in 1987 followed by the college in 1988. The University of Florida became NWSA state university partner in 1995. Currently, the school is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary during the 2011-2012 school year.
