The Office of Community Relations is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with individuals, governments and the business communities within the North Central Florida region.
Community Relations: In North Central Florida
- Conducts neighborhood outreach to promote an atmosphere of goodwill between the university and its neighbors.
- Serves as an information resource and a point of contact for all members of the community.
- Involves public officials in the identification and resolution of public policy issues of concern to both the university and the community.
- Promotes the university as a resource to the community to both city and county government elected and appointed officials.
- Implements the annual University of Florida Community Campaign in collaboration with the university community and serves as an information resource and point of contact for faculty, staff and students on campus. The UFCC, which is the charitable campaign participated in by UF faculty and staff, has raised and given more than $1 million annually for a wide variety of worthy causes in our area.

The Assistant Vice President of Community Relations is responsible for developing and implementing a UF community relations plan, representing UF to local governments and community organizations, partnering with Shands Healthcare and others on community initiatives, and supporting UF's government relations efforts. The AVP also serves as the executive director of the University of Florida Community Campaign.

Director of Community Relations
The director of community relations serves to keep communication open between the university and its neighbors, working closely with residents and officials in Gainesville and Alachua County. The CR division responds to inquiries, coordinates special activities with local civic, community and government associations and organizes efforts to meet community needs.
